A young doctor kills himself after a medical committee terminates his research into human embryos, considering it too inhumane. Really inept, but only rarely charmingly so. Franco should've been a painter, because he knows how to frame images, but can't make them dance. This film's ardent cult following is confusing to me because it isn't bad enough to be entertainingly so, and it's not sexy, scary, gory, or schlocky enough to be a self-awarely over-the-top, and simultaneously beautiful and technically competent film. The biggest bright spot is the sexy and fairly talented Miranda, and to a much lesser extent, Williams.

A doctor commits suicide after he loses his medical license for illegal experimenting on human fetuses. So his sexy young widow seduces, murders and mutilates the genitals of all the doctors from the medical review board. With a setup like that, it's surprising to discover how tame and boring most of this film is. The widow is gorgeous and the music is fantastic....but the sex is not that hot, the pace is glacial and the violence is barely there. This movie literally peters out to nothing.

Though I liked the sets and scenery, I found the film very dull. I don't know how you make a film about a murderous, mutilating seductress boring, but this did it. I prefer Franco when he's sleazier (Yes, he can get sleazier than this) and more outlandish.
