Sherlock Holmes: Dressed to Kill

Sherlock Holmes in this tale really does embody Peirce's maxim "the irritation of doubt causes a struggle to attain a state of belief". On full show is Mr Holmes' undertaking of inquiry using the method of science (abduction, deduction, induction) as he seeks the truth (as any self-respecting detective and indeed citizen ought to) while his dear friend Dr Watson employees less logically sound approaches (tenacity, authority, a priori) to often comic effect.
