Ship of Fools

So this is basically a story about a boat going across the Atlantic, every character ends up being a bystander, none of them developed enough to make a difference, none of them get enough time to be very memorable. It has no point and when the boat gets to its destination all the passengers leave and you don't care, even the last line of the movie is a testament to that: "What has all this to do with us? Nothing."

Not enough Lee Marvin.

Tried to tackle too many issues and didn't succeed with any of them.

Some good acting in this pretentious, plodding version of a Katherine Anne Porter novel.

250 minutes of bloated, self-importance.

"Ship of Fools" has too many characters without any story to flesh them out. I might have enjoyed the movie if I had read the book, but I didn't.

Em honra de George Segal (1934 - 2021) e do centenário da grande Simone Signoret. Não era exatamente o filme que eu queria ver para o centenário de La Signoret, mas aí o Segal faleceu e foi inevitável, mas é uma grata surpresa, especialmente por tratar de questões pertinentes pré-segunda guerra. Plus: Não tem como não amar Michael Dunn, até hoje o único anão a ser indicado ao Oscar. Tõ esperando darem um papel decente no cinema para o Peter Dinklage ser o segundo. BlurayRip RARBG.

good movie

The talented cast is often quite good, but the film feels like a disaster film that forgot to have a disaster.
