Ship of Theseus

An interesting exploration of physical identity and some ethical and emotional issues surrounding that topic. Each of the three stories is well done and engaging, though a lot of scenes go on a little longer than needed which bloats the film as a whole.

One of those movies that is too smart for its own good. It desperately wants its audience to think about and discuss the issues and subject it treats. But in the process forgets to tell a compelling story or give us character to give one cent about. The movie is saved mostly because the direction is very decent and some of the issues are indeed interesting at times.

Director said a couple of things that in my opinion are the best way to describe it: "At the heart, it is a story that celebrates dichotomy, paradox, duality and irony" and "The three short stories evolved to fill in the three corners of the classical Indian trinity of Satyam-Shivam-Sunderam (The pursuit of truth, the pursuit of righteousness and the pursuit of beauty)". Me saying the movie reaches those goals is the best review I can make in this limited space.
