"Lucky" Dick Dix as a big city gambler turned small town reformer. A nice little 1930 gangster drama this. Pacing might not be it's strong point as it's snail speed in parts, but the acting works for it. Richard Dix puts on a damn fine performance. Serious and to the point. Maybe not full of fire, but he's the type of performer who could do those kinds of parts without overacting and that's what makes this one work. Mary Lawlor did two movies with this being her debut. Not too impressive of her.
