Set in contemporary New York's literary world, this is a re-telling of the classic fable of a man who sells his soul to the devil for fame and fortune and ultimately decides that he wants to get it back. Jabez Stone, a down and out writer, exchanges his soul for a successful literary career, but soon realizes it was a mistake. Shortcut to Happiness is a terrible mess from start to finish. It had a very troubled production history which saw it shelved for years, disowned by its director and leading actor, and not even released on home video in North America. It's a sight to behold. None of it works, but it's all so bad that it's actually kind of enjoyable because it's funny. Nobody talks about Shortcut to Happiness because nobody saw it, but it deserves to rank up there in the list of worst movies.

The last scene was a big congratulation on time wasted. Essentially, nothing in this movie ever happened. You might as well just not see it.
