Showdown in Little Tokyo

Brandon Lee (RIP) gives one of the campiest performances I've ever seen in this cop/buddy flick which sees Dolph Lundgren dressing up like a samurai to machine gun down endless hordes of yakuza. Lee actually utters the words "You have the biggest dick I've ever seen on a man" to Dolph. Ultra cheesy lines, a bunch of huge brawls, and more squibs than you can shake a stick at. The Lundgren-Tia Carrere sex scene is the funniest 20 seconds of your life.

Wow, I thought I had seen it all, but Dolph 'Teutonic' Lundgren speaking fluent Japanese and killing everything in sight, teamed up with a dorky backflipping Brandon Lee, against a horde of Yakuza badasses, is the comic action spectacle I never knew I needed. Although the pair display very little logic or sense, their lives are a non-stop ride of intense action scenes and homoerotic compliments. Swords, shurikens, fists and dicks all get used to the max in this raucous, over-the-top cheese-fest.

This is not a good film by any stretch of the imagination but it's better than most B-movies simply because of the absurd interaction between the two co-stars. You can tell both Lundgren and Lee as well as Cary Tagawa were having fun with their roles here and no one took it seriously. The "Japanese" Yakuza are also completely over the top. If there was a movie that symbolized violent 90's trash cinema then this would easily serve as an example.

Showdown in Little Tokyo is one of the dumbest and cheesiest action films of the 90's. And you can't help but think that it feels a decade too late. But growing up I enjoyed it and it's one of Lundgren's best leading films. His acting is undeniably dreadful and he's hilariously presented to be the most virile man ever. The action scenes are half decent and the nostalgic score screams 80's. However this film will be remembered for Lee's hilariously awful genitalia line. It's so bad it's good.

Lundgren, Lee (RIP) and Tagawa, all in the same movie? How am I only just watching this?! Seriously campy and seriously good fun with a ton of quotes that I can't wait to use in public. Probably came a decade or two too late.

So bad it's good. Has some of the worst, cheesiest lines ever written and it is great. I love how Lundgren uses every chance he gets to take his shirt off.

they get all of our dicks hard when brandon lee compliments prime dolph's monstrous hog but instead of the thirty minute gay sex scene we deserve they just go with another mediocre shootout. wasted opportunity.

There's this one part where this guy breaks his own neck to avoid interrogation. It's sweet. That's the only part of the movie I remember.

'80s style action flick. No shortage of fake boobs, enhanced muscles, martial arts, and bad guys. Dolph Lungren leaps over a freakin' car! I appreciate the twist on ethnic backgrounds. Fav scene: bathhouse fight.

Lundgren's performance isn't good, but it's on par with everyone else. The real problem here is the writing, which appears to be done by someone with ok ideas but no concept of how to create a full script and a juvenile obsession with bad one liners. The situations just get more and more outlandish, and the dialogue is absolutely groanworthy. There are entertaining moments, but most of it is bad.

Viewed February 11, 2022. Lean, quick, and only 78 minutes long like a Budd Boetticher movie. This was clearly cut to ribbons so it doesn’t have much time for plot or character, but it hits on pretty much all of the textures that make early 90s action movies appealing—a lot of explosions and charmingly clunky action and interesting locations, with plenty of cheesy one-liners scattered throughout.

One of the ultimate bad good action flicks.

Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee make for an enjoyable duo in this consistently intense film, which boasts good pacing as well as plenty of great hand-to-hand combat, shoot-outs and explosions to feast your eyes on, culminating in a visceral sword fight. The dialogues can be fun yet also occasionally veer into cringey territory, and the plot is unsurprisingly pretty basic, but what's most jarring is probably how Minako goes from rape victim to sexualized love interest in a few minutes.

Mindless action film that's aware of its own stupidity and shrewdly capitalises on it, contrary to popular belief. While it's a 90's action film with a buddy cop theme, its cheap exploitation style and crude 'orientalism' aligns it with the pre-Lethal Weapon era of low budget crap. Completing this impression are somewhat clumsily executed action scenes, hammy acting and ridiculously bad pun laden dialogue. Lundgren and Lee play off each other well, and it doesn't overstay its welcome.

A pretty silly and corny concept of a film, but with hot ass Tia Carrere in it. And I think I remember boobs.

Relentlessly silly and cheesy buddy cop action film with a ton of bizarre lines and over the top scenes.If you are a fan of Lundgren, 90s action movies, bad sex scenes with poorly chosen body doubles or cops who live in dojos then this lots of fun. Also worthwhile noting how this film in 1991 accurately predicted the upcoming methamphetamine epidemic.

Another one of my favorite bad movies of all time, this thing has points through the roof for its use of cool action scenes, and those scenes mostly involving Brandon Lee. A cast of people you will recognize from other films they've been in Cary Tagawa for instance from Mortal Kombat and Sab Shimono from Ninja Turtles. Oh and Tia Carrere gets naked! WOOHOO! Chalk up another one here for a night of bad films.

This is by no means a good movie, but wow is it good in a hilariously bad sort of way. Just watch it sometime.

Somewhat entertaining, but really stupid, and it's quite pathetic how hard the movie tries to make Lundgren into the most virile man ever, most notably when poor Brandon Lee awkwardly comments on Lundgren's supposedly large genitalia.
