Early 90's martial-arts kids movie starring the main kid from the "It"(1990) miniseries, who suffers from some kind of weird Chuck Norris obsession/psychosis, in addition to being asthmatic. Although they treat his asthma with Chinese placebo tonics and through exercise like Teddy Roosevelt with the help of his own not-"Mr. Miyagi", they encourage his odd obsession and hallucinations by getting Chuck Norris to help him win the state karate championships, and yet the movie is surprisingly boring.

Cheesy but tolerable wish fulfillment for kids. Watching Chuck Norris beat the crap out of a spastic Joe Piscopo is rather amusing.

As long as you go in expecting it to be terrible, you'll not be disappointed when it's just mediocre.

Yet another movie that I had completely forgotten about until now. Apparently I lived through a lot of terrible movies as a kid. This one certainly isn't the worst, but it's miles away from the best.

Silly Karate Kid ripoff where every element is watered down and blander. I don't know which is more painful to watch, Beau Bridges dancing or Piscopo's shameless mugging.

It's trash, but my love for it is grandfathered in. To a 13 year old this movie is fucking awesome, and I'm always 13 when I watch it.

This wretched kiddie fantasy is bland, boring, bloodless, and banal. Chuck Norris' laughable attempt to be Mr. Miyagi. No wonder Jonathan Brandis killed himself.

A Karate Kid type shit show. Norris, despite his internet fame is clunky and never seems to look impressive in anything he does, let alone a fluff piece like this.

This is so cheesy I had to give it a low score, but I do enjoy some good cheese every now and then. Chuck Norris' presence really makes it worthwhile.

This movie elevates movies like Kickboxer 4, China O' Brien and Bloodsport 2 to Godfather-like levels. But then again, it does have the Jonathan Brandis stamp of impending doom.

Morbid fascination of watching now-dead actors aside, this movie sucks.

A really cheesy movie but it's really funny when we watch the main character act out his fantasies with Chuck Norris. Also, check it out for a ripped Joe Piscopo.

What a creep! Daydreaming about Chuck Norris being your boy is really sad!

Not even Chuck Norris (or his beard) can make this movie worth watching.

It is sooo baaad, but there is Jonathan Brandis R.I.P. in it. He is good.

One that I'd forgotten about (as it turns out on purpose).

They are Norris (playing himself -- as sanctimoniously as he plays anyone else) and Brandis (asthmatic weakling, daydreamer, Chuck Norris idolater), and together they hook up to battle the bullies at the Texas Open Team Karate Tournament. There is an elementary appeal about this, although actual Norris idolaters, along with those of Seagal and van Damme, might not care to have the childishness of their fantasies so plainly underlined. Nonidolaters could care less.

As much as i can relate to daydreaming about awesome people to hang with...chuck norris? Might just as well hang with jonathan brandis. Too soon?

worth a watch

Yesss, late 80s-early 90s inspirational martial arts kids movies! The entire last portion of the tournament and ending are all pretty great, for what it is.
