Sierra Burgess Is a Loser

Man this main character is actually sort of too much of a psycho catfisher to really like on any level. She’s even mean to her friends too! I actually liked the “bully” girl a lot more ironically. Enjoyed seeing 80s teen movie stars as the parents.

The actors are good and I get what the writer was trying to accomplish but the story is so badly handled, and the main character's arch is terrible. Sierra didn't do anything to make up for her horrible and selfish actions, so why did everyone just instantly forgive her? It would be like Cyrano de Bergerac if Cyrano was a git who stabbed the other man in the back.

What's wrong with Netflix movie productions? I can't remember a Netflix movie I liked. Now, as soon as I see Netflix's opening logo, I'm almost sure it's a bad movie

Ho provato a vederlo fino in fondo, ma non ce la posso fare: l'ennesima storia della brutta ma intelligente che si piange addosso e inspiegabilmente attrae il più figo della scuola. Noia e fastidio.

I like the MTV program catfish as much as the next guy but this is too much. Maybe I gotta stop watching these Netflix pictures just because riverdale people are in them

It kept me interested, and there is talent on screen, but it felt like the filmmakers forgot what kind of story they were trying to tell and changed course a few times.

Adapting the Cyrano story to a modern high-school setting does not help its believability. The film unfortunately relies too much on contrivance and stereotypes, while only occasionally balancing those with genuine character moments.

An ugly girl's fantasy about becoming friends with the popular girl at school and successfully stringing along a hot guy. The ethics of catfishing are a distant concern: this is porn for women, and that's okay. It caters well to a certain underserved demographic, and for that I've got to give it some respect. Its pacing is unnecessarily slow and it diverts into a few unwanted tangents, but its biggest flaw is its cop-out of a cliche happy ending. Give Shannon Purser more work!
