Monogram Pictures do try with Sign of the Wolf (1941), but it's limited how interesting this landscape dog adventure got. At least it was better than the average Rin Tin Tin Jr. picture of the 1930s. The dogs might have been just as average, but this film owes a lot to it's black cast members in the always gracious Mamie Louise Beavers and funnyman Mantan Moreland. The picture would have been unbearable boring without them.
