This was a decent movie but after seeing it only certain scenes stood out.

The movie was not very scary, it was somewhat suspenseful, but for the most part I stared at the screen saying to myself, "What the...?"

Looks like Silent Hill, sounds like Silent Hill, but doesn't feel like Silent Hill. Relies way too much on tasteless gore to get a reaction, something the games never did.

nice movie... and i think it's so much not like the game hahaha however... i guess it could have been better if it was a little bit more scary.

This may be the best game-based movie ever made, but that doesn't mean it's a great film. Hollywood has a habit of dumbing things down for mainstream America. Silent Hill is raw, violent and oppressive, this movie lacks all three of those. Oh yeah, Harry Mason is a man, why they thought it would be a good idea to change such an important character's sex is beyond me.

The initial entrance to Silent Hill nicely portrayed some of the more common enemies and aspects within the games, but generally lacked within its backstory regarding mere God-fearing Christians.

Surprisingly better than expected, with a few odd and eerie and uh oh moments. I won't forget that siren anytime soon

Unique look at the game. Suspense is good. Ending is six sense like.

It's not without its flaws; however, the atmosphere is incredible, the music is superb, and it's really, -really- scary. As a horror movie, it does its job admirably.

I know this is a hated film to some people, but for me this is what a videogame film should look at as a template for transferring tone from game to film. Relentlessly dark and disturbing, some silly parts aside its a pretty good exercise in horror.

A very strong first hour. Awesome visuals and music with a perfect Silent Hill atmosphere, though when the cult is introduced the movie definitely starts to drag. If they got rid of the cult, made Rose a man and focused more on the characters than a stupid Witch burning cult it would be perfect.

As the movie progresses you pretty much have no idea what's going on. And once the film trys to explain itself, the plot even gets more confusing and vague. In a way, I rather the film not a give a plot. Silent Hill is a visual feast and has it's suspenseful moments but fails to make outsiders understand the film.

It does a great job creating a nightmare world of hellish imagery and monsters; seriously, those visuals! But the plot and characters are lacking, and wander for more visual extravaganza.

The audio was incredible. Neat visuals. Not much in the way of fulfilling content. And, why the hell does she carry a zippo lighter? She didn't smoke.

Silent Hill is a mundane car wreck with a few promising scenes that lead absolutely nowhere. Had Silent Hill been directed by Peter Jackson, perhaps there would have been an explanation or justification for its 127-minute length. But Christophe Gans? Seriously?

Drops the ball HARD once the cult is introduced. From that point on it succumbs to the same nonsensical plotting that plagued the game.

All this movie's success is in design/sound elements ripped totally from the video game. Nothing else works.

You know it's a good horror movie when you can hear people weeping openly in the theatre. I loved this picture, but that said, the video-game elements were a bit cheesy and the sub-plot with her husband seemed tacked-on.

This movie is fun to watch, the story is BAD... i'll tell you that now. However the effects are very, very good and it is quite a creepy movie. Acting is sub par, but really, who cares. It succeeds at being a scary movie, and that's what really matters... right?

'Silent Hill's flaws are undeniable, but it is such a success in creating a gloomy, sinister atmosphere that I can easily get over the things that went wrong here.

Not too shabby, but the parts with Sean Bean really slowed the movie down. Lots of fan service for those who remember the first two games.

Fantastic imagery and creatures. Shame it can't hide an incomprehensible plot nor cover the plot holes that litter the screenplay. If you're anything less than a casual fan of Silent Hill, you will not "get it".

It looks nice, but that's about it. Probably would have worked if it was a bit less talky and more... isolated? I don't know, I'm just a disappointed fan of Gans and Silent Hill.

Good/interesting visuals, but storywise it just didn't really gel. Lots of shots looked very similar to the videogames the movie is based on, but that's not really enough to hold up a movie alone.

As several have said before me, the visuals are pretty darn good. Story, however? Nah. Seriously; some of the lines made me want to stab myself in the ears. Then again, I'm a firm believer that books, video games, and comics should not be translated to film or anything aside from what they are.

While slightly off key on some parts, silent hill becomes a dark tale. A horrific voyage into the depths of hell. An extremists view on the witch trials from centuries past. it freaked me out.

A great movie, if your a fan of the games, if you've never played them this won't appeal though, it's greatly underestimated, and has a amazing soundtrack, ook from the games!

First - it is a movie based on a great game Silent Hill/Silent Hill 2 and should be considered ONLY when you played one. Adaptation is far from original in characters and a plot but still close enough to watch it and enjoy it. Major part bases on atmosphere and visuals and points the target. Actors did their job well. Might have been a little bit less hollywood-clean. It's still a worthwhile piece of interesting Silent Hill 3rd person vision. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE WHO DIDN'T PLAY THE GAME!

I'm a fan of the series and the atmosphere it sets up and throws you into, and in the aspect of portraying that this film succeeds admirably.
