I suspect that to have accomplished what Karen Silkwood did as an activist, she would have to have been shrewder than the innocent Texas bumpkin this film portrays her as. Even by the script's own logic, it's hard to understand her sudden awakening from initially being as stupid as to eat cake and such with her irradiated gloves on. Moreover, a great deal of crucially important facts about Silkwood's story seem to be missing from this telling. Aside from these flaws, this is an excellent drama.

You know how some actors has such a drawing power that you watch a movie just because s/he in it? Well Meryl Streep is an opposite of that for me. Add Cher to the mix and you've got a movie you'd have a lot of convincing to do if you wanted me to see it. This time I'm very happy I did. It's very different from what I expected, under passionate direction of Nichols (you can tell he believed in this movie) even the scene of workers having lunch is fascinating and menacing. Effective filmmaking.

Em honra de Kitty Turner (1943 - 2019). É um filme correto do Nichols, mas nada que seja realmente luminoso, excetuando, é claro, os reiterados passeios sem camisa do Kurt Russell. BlurayRip RARBG.

Well done drama if not entirely effective. The cast is pretty amazing with tons of familiar talented faces. Nichols does a nice job with the whole thing. The script however is a bit hit or miss and feels rushed in Silkwoods blossoming into activism. Still worth seeing though.

Good, but was periodically reminded how much less I was "buying" Streep than Sally Field as Norma Rae. I also think Ritt & co's lefty bona fides helped their story with grounding, meaning, poetry beyond the headline hook ("Maybe somewhere between logic and charity, there falls a shadow"). Problem isn't Hollywood moments per se, but when they ring as false as Streep & Russell saying to Cher they'd heard her have sex all night, & vice-versa, only to be shocked when a woman walks out the bedroom
