Great and emotional. A feel-good movie from the late 90's.

Again, maybe its because I haven't seen it in a long while, but I really did enjoy this movie. I guess I just like midgets.

A touching story about a kid who likes to grope breasts, and a kid who would grow up to be Jim Carrey.

Hahaha. This movie isn't quite awful, I don't think, but it's incredibly cheesy and heavy-handed, and has a lot of unintentional (and intentional) "lol midget" comedy. I love when he gropes the Virgin Mary while playing baby Jesus. And kills his friend's mom by slamming a home run. And dies. I mean. Wait. Shit.

As I recall, Simon Birch wasn't all that bad. I stay away from this kind of stuff but this was decent. Some good acting and a sad ending along with some cliches.

Oliver Platt is great but it's just a poorer version of The Mighty.

Simon Birch is an instrument of God constructed to rob you of two hours of your life. Treacle.

Suffering from bad narration, over long scenes, & less than amusing comical forays, what is most amazing is the picture is watchable at all, but the well played clever idealized characters continue to draw me in in spite of the flaws

Simon is a 12 year old little person who believes that he's an "instrument of God". He's also obsessed with boobs. This really should've been a better movie than it is. It's got a nice message an' all, but the whole thing is forced and obnoxious.

Top badass moment? Star Trek’s Ensign Robin Lefler is killed with a baseball by a small boy called Simon, (which explains why she was only in two episodes). Despite murdering a young woman, breaking into places and groping God’s lover, everyone seemed to think he’s adorable. ??? He’s an annoying little Joe 90 lookalike with an overdeveloped sense of his own importance, wallowing in a rose-tinted version of the 60s. A future as a politician awaits him. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

This is very much a family film, one with a fair dosage of sentimentality, cheese and cliche. This isn't always a bad thing and there is something somehow comforting about it, even though you can guess most of what happens. Its an easy, light watch and it won't likely offend or upset people, which is a good thing I guess. It's not exactly memorable or particularly good but its a fairly decent watch.

Oh god this is cloying. My ex used to quote its schmaltziest moments incessantly in that awful precocious child voice & nothing could make the torture stop. 😭
