Utilizing soundtrack and -scape to almost Claire Denis/Xavier Dolan-esque effect and combining it with tightly cropped (tracking) shots, which help cultivate a sense of claustrophobia and dread, Campos' sophomore effort is equally ambitious and ambiguous - and all the better for it.

Impressive tracking shots and a mesmerizing soundtrack produce scenes that are worth looking at, but while it feels visually attractive, Simon Killer suffers from the lack of a satisfying storytelling to create empathy for a character who is pure instinct and chaos. It's as empty as another contemporary artsy attempt to depict wandering male characters with no escape, like Oslo, 31. August.

Well made but ultimately unedifying study of an unpleasant character, solidly portrayed by Corbet. Nice soundtrack though.

To tell the truth the two third of the story was pretty good for nothing. I adored the colour flossing transitions between "chapters". And the very end of the story gave an surprising, a long waited boost for the story. The main protagonist was really a pain in the ass.

The occasional catchlight in Simon's eyes is used brilliantly ("I don't like the way you're looking at me"). I hadn't realized how many long takes this has. This mood is exactly what I’m looking for in a movie

A dark, brooding, noirish film featuring a main character that is interesting in how unlikable he is. Basically In the Company of Men with a neonoir edge.

Karanlık bir karakter çalışması olayım derken, defalarca tattığımız bir çorbaya dönüşüyor. Müzikleri güzeldi ama.

Has what can only be described as an incredibly unlikable protagonist. But that doesn't make me dislike the movie. Just the opposite. I loved hating this pathetic, miserable guy as I waited for some looming, inevitable blowout. Although the overall experience was somewhat tedious, the effect is long lasting.

This must be the only film set in Paris where they don't show the Eiffel Tower. The story itself is so so, but the use of music (choice) in some scenes is fantastic. Also the thumb-butt trick was wonderfully weird.

Solid performances, good direction, camerawork and soundtrack. Whether you'd want to spend your time following the unlikeable protagonist on his selfish, nihilistic journey is another matter though.

Interesting, if not really enjoyable film which demands quite a lot from the viewer. The protagonist is very unlikable but still oddly fascinating. It doesn't really evolve into anything -- kind of anti-growth story.
