A real cheapie with a young Mickey Rooney making an impression. To capitalize of his fame this film was re-released in 1938 under the name of Slums of New York after Rooney had hit it big time, but in reality he only has a small but vital part. The real story is about Lloyd Whitlock, a crooked lawyer seeing the errors of his ways of defending gangsters and become a homeless drifter until one day he meets Rooney who gets him on the right path again. Hardly a remarkable movie, but decent enough.
