Skjelvet

This is a difficult film to rate. I want to say it’s better than its predecessor due to more engaging disaster scenes (some of the best, in fact), but the build up is horribly slow and uneventful. Not the mention after the best parts of the climax, the third act just says “nah, we don’t need to show the rest”, and skips to the epilogue. Lot of good moments before that but I felt cheated, and the son and his girlfriend were too underused. I’m very polarized.

Another imaginatively titled disaster film from the burgeoning Norwegian disaster movie stables, and very good it was. The special effects and climax were terrifically tense and looked as real as these films can be. If there were faults it is with the pacing, and editing, as Yoshinaruto says. The first half was slow, and Kristens breakdown is really laboured to the point of boredom, and the climactic "rescue" is cut short as they manage to get themselves out: how, who knows? but very enjoyable

I was waiting with great anticipation for the movie after watching the "Bolgen". Unfortunately, this movie wasn't at the same level. The direction was very good but the script.... swallow, full of holes, couldn't provide the same thrills as the previous movie.
