Much overlooked film. Well executed, very cinematic.

I'm still not sure who the villian was or if there was infact a point to this film! The main character does fly around in an old World War Two plane that had some gadgets taken from a James Bond movie taped onto the cockpit to make an overall amazingly easy sleepy time while watching the 'Action' scenes! "O no!" "Giant Robots attacking! " "We need the Sky Captain!" Sky Captain then uses grappling hook to wrap robot's leg.... Star Wars didn't do that in Empire Strikes Back.

The visuals are sometimes striking but the nostalgia angle just doesn't work that well. The first Indiana Jones did this better with less fuss. Angelina Jolie gets more screen time in the previews than she does in the movie.

This is nostalgia talking and even though the character dialogue is awful with poor CGI and a stagnated story, I will say that nostalgia just holds this film dear to my heart.

This is the sort of movie you really want to be good, but is ultimately mediocre. It had a fantastic 1930s sci-fi motif complete with art deco robots... but then threw it all away for a plot and setting you could find in a hundred other movies.

It looks kind of pretty but it has less heart than the Star Wars prequels. Terrible piece of shit.

Sometimes you can see in the actors eyes the pain of how low they will go for a paycheck. Jude Law is that actor, and this is that paycheck.

Haphazard writing and acting somewhat redeemed by surrealist, broken visuals that almost feel like an intentional statement

They ripped off a cartoon! Talk about originality! Anyway, it's alright, entertaining, mindless, roller coaster action movie.

Had the potential to be great. As it stands, it's a decent flick and the computer animation helps a bit.

Super-stylistic update on classic serial action/adventure. "Sky Captain" is a visual treat, loaded with eye candy, while managing to avoid looking like a video game. The cast, especially Law and Ribisi, have loads of fun with the campy approach, but in the end, the story's shortcomings limit the film's impact.

An empty, beautiful homage to the old science fiction serials of yesteryear. The visual effects are almost perfect for the subject matter, but the acting, story and everything else barely rise above competent.

I recall my friend leaning over and saying in jest, "You know what would make this movie AWESOME? Dinosaurs!" And then there were dinosaurs! Very blurry and over the top.

Faithful to the tone and style of 1930's serials, with cutting-edge graphic wizardry that looks like... cheesy 1930's serials. Only fuzzier.

A kind of whimsical sci-fi movie. Enjoyable, with a stylized sort of feel that permeates the whole of the movie. Somewhat light on the plot though.

Pretty cool adventure, mostly computer generated. If you enjoyed Sin City just because of the style is was filmed in you should check this out.

This film really hit all the right points for me and delivered an exciting and stimulating movie experience. Though the script itself is not deep, and it does throw a lot of old ideas at the screen it look and style are all its own. It felt almost as if I was watching a Golden Age comic book come to life, mixed in with a few helpings of Indiana Jones and a bit of Dark City. The cast Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Giovanni Ribisi and a wonderful Angelina Jolie all bring remarkable work to the table.

Reminded me of the Star Wars prequels... which is probably a good part of why I didn't enjoy it. Silly story, actors phoning in their roles, everything green-screen'd... yawn!

Though this film is lacking in the whole story department, the visuals are enough to suck you in, not to mention an entertaining performance from Gwyneth Paltrow and surprise cameo from the late Sir Laurence Olivier. The final frame of this film is also one of the most memorable of recent memory.
