Hell I loved it for it's sheer comedy factor. I think going in and expecting a horror movie causes people to give it a poor to middle of the road reception but expecting a very funny movie, with some seriously gross sections, results in this film delivering perfectly. I laughed so hard I cried for about 10 minutes hearing Malcolm Reyno-err Nathan Fillion saying "well now that is some fucked up shit" when he sees something that can really only be described as... well... fucked up shit.

A hilariously gory horror comedy that is an amalgamation of 80's body horror films, tounge-in-cheek humor, a cast that kills in every scene, and a Night of the Living Dead-esque setting sets this movie apart from most modern horror fare as an inventive and original sci-fi/horror/comedy film that is sure to delight any fans of the above genres listed.

Fun little flick that came out of nowhere! Very much in the same vein as Evil Dead II, Re-Animator and The Blob. This movie does not take itself too seriously, and as a result was one of the funnest tongue in cheek horror flicks I've seen in well over a decade. Simply an awesome movie and a must-see for anyone who grew up with 80's horror flicks!

Pays homage to a number of films, but I think it's mostly in the vein of 80's comedic horror like Evil Dead... a casual blend of gross-out thrills and funny one-liners. It tends to straddle the line too much, and never really veers into either "creepy" or "hilarious", but maybe that's what they were shooting for. It is a fun, light-hearted way to kill some time: Nathan Fillion is simply an enjoyable presence, and there's a few genuine gut-busting moments (in both senses of the word).

A great movie to watch around Halloween, about space slugs taking over a podunk town in Nowhere, USA. Sounds like countless movies from the 70s and 80s, but this one comes packed with many modern sensibilities, not the least of which being its top-of-the-line make-up and effects work. The flick gets a huge boost from Gunn's incredibly wry sense of humour, as well as a very charismatic lead performance from Fillion. Just a fun film, all in all. Now where's my god damn Mr. Pibb??

Light-toned horror influenced by numerous precursors but especially (in conceptual terms) Cronenberg's SHIVERS. Although reasonably likeable, the movie is perhaps not quite amusing enough, nor quite horrifying enough. Even though it musters a certain amount of ickiness, this is to some extent undermined by the obviousness of the digitally-generated imagery, which represents the major technical difference between this movie and the 1970s and 1980s horror films from which it borrows.

Overrated. Though it manages to maintain the same sort of irreverent tone of Shaun of the Dead, its characters don't have the same lovable charm. And that would be okay, but Gunn held these obnoxious bastards in too high a regard, so what started out as a parody ended up a half-joking Sci-Fi original movie. Still entertaining, but highly disappointing.

Fun, but not as incisive as I'd hoped. There are some nice twists on the standard possessed/zombie plot, but a distinct lack of zip in the bulk of the dialogue. This is not down to the performances which are quite amusing, especially Fillion who injects his usual undercutting charm. There are still some chuckles to be had between the splatter and I think I spotted Banks' nipple, so, you know, bonus!

It's an OK "killer brain slugs from outer space" movie but it owes an awful lot to the superior Night of the Creeps. Not sure how James Gunn gets credits in Hollywood as a screenwriter, when he is clearly just someone who re-writes already existing scripts.

I found Slither to be pretty stylishly done. Great make-up effects, an easy-to-follow, not-too-convoluted story with some likeable (and unlikeable) characters. Michael Rooker is great, as usual, and the rest of the cast falls in line and delivers a good way to spend an evening if you have an above-average stomach.

These are the films I love. Gross, Dark, Creepy, and Messy. Peter Gunn out does himself with this little number, and the cast of stars isn't important because there isn't any. That is what makes it so good. You are not held to the belief that this film is going to be all the great but in end it turns out to be quite satisfying. Grab a bag of popcorn and some cold beer hang out with your woman and let her curl up in your arms with this one. Truly a spectacle.

Generally I wouldn't argue for camp being a positive trait, but this takes the whole Body Snatchers concept and mixes in influences like John Carpenter's The Thing, Junji Ito's Uzumaki, and various Cronenberg -- all with a great sense of humor and self-awareness. I feel as if I should like Slither more than I did. It's certainly well-made, with some solid effects work and funny gags. The cast is also quite good. However, I've never much liked the plot structure. When Gunn is heading into the third act, I feel as if we should just be prepping for act two. The first hour of the movie feels too much like one, extended first act.
