I think Jost has elsewhere done more for less. While Slow Moves is clearly the work of a visionary artist, it belies a bit of amateurishness: the pacing is rather off, the acting is not quite good enough, some cuts don't work and there is a serious sound problem (some pieces of dialogue are noticeably less audible). Still, it's a bona-fide no-budget improvisational indie movie with both style and substance, and that's a lot.

Hugely modest film with an incredible directness in its aesthetic (over a decade before the Dogme movement). It's amateurish and some of the production values slightly hinder its communication, but it doesn't harm the film too much overall. Really great love story; will bowl you over with how simple it is and how simple it is told.

With all these people it's funny how lonely you can get sometimes.
