Not at all subtle, or even particularly interesting cinematically or narratively, but Susan Hayward sinks her teeth into a showy role and makes the best of it. She IS this movie, make no mistake.

Wasn't really a movie that grabs you at first, but Susan Hayward does a good job of spinning the alcoholic angle. I couldn't help feel it could have done everything better, but it was onto something.
