Inauthenticity aside, the internet culture this attempted to portray was passé for 2012, so me watching this in 2020 was like looking at stone tablets. Exceedingly grating and ugly, so it's no surprise it came from YouTube content creators and stars many long since irrelevant YouTubers from ancient internet history. Made with only a sociopathic understanding of the bare minimum signifiers of narrative and human interaction. Plato's Cave Cinema.

Couldn't decide between slasher film or psychological horror, failed at both. It's the lack of trust in the audience that really stung though; long descriptions of not-chatroulette, /b/, anonymous, the anthropic principle, hypothesis testing etc. etc. etc, pretty tedious and no amount of philosophical waffle could quite excuse the silliness of the central idea. Also; "Are you a fan the strange?" -nobody talks like this.

The acting from everybody is laughable and the lead actress is beyond annoying. It tries just a bit too hard to provide social commentary and for me it ultimately fails. But in the end it is a fairly watchable horror movie.
