The parents (Horace B. Carpenter)(Vane Calvert) of Smokey Smith (Bob Steele) are murdered while traveling with a wagon train that is attacked by outlaws. Smokey swears revenge but his only possible chance lies in finding the member of the border-gang who took a ring from his father's finger. The sheriff (Earl Dwire) of a nearby border town makes Smokey a deputy after the latter saves his life when outlaws attack a stagecoach the sheriff is escorting. (imdb)

One of the better '30s low budget westerns I've seen although there's still not much to it.

From a action point of view this is one of the most imaginative movies I've seen from hack director Robert N. Bradbury. Or imaginative might not the right word for it. But a lot of cool ideas and clichés was poured in to make this tiny western fun to watch even if production values are always miles away from a Bradbury film. Bob Steele manages to look half-good and they had many recognizable B-western faces. So while this is a pretty rushed and rough cowboy shooter, it does the trick nicely.
