Relatively mediocre and forgettable with lame humor thrown in. While watching this I kept expecting commercial breaks as this seemed like something made for TV.

The first of six Durango Kid movies starring Charles Starrett that would release in 1952. The final year of the Durango Kid film series that produced 65 films since 1945. Smoky Canyon (1952) doesn't offer anything one hasn't seen a hundred times before, but at least Smiley Burnette help cheer the mood up, even if it was more a action episode than one where he could thrive in.
