Excellent kung-fu antics and really funny too. The fights and use of props are fantastic and so much fun. Favourite bit was definately when Jackie finished off The Preacher with a deadly blow to the nutsack. Class.

It feels like most of the movie was just showing off the snake and cat style, but the fights tend to go on for too long and were not too imaginative. Jackie Chan's later films where he actually directs shows off his skills more. Not enough comedy here. Fav scene: trying to take the bowl from the master.

Classic kung fu comedy from Jackie Chan, directed by the great Yuen Woo-Ping. This is the movie that made Jackie a star in Asia. Fantastic kung fu and mindblowing object manipulation on display.

In essence this is a by-the-numbers martial arts movie, but the moves on display are definitely impressive and Chan just adds a ton of charm.

A fun little movie that's pretty light on plot. It's middle of the road Jackie Chan which means it's still better than most martial arts movies out there. And if you watch close you can watch Jackie get one of his front teeth knocked out during the climactic battle.

Though it lacks the polish of Jackie's later movies, this is still a fun movie to watch, if only to see what Jackie Chan was like when he was first starting out.

Jarringly camp at first, but once won over by the moves and juggling it's a real treat with some good gags as a bonus.

The martial arts on display are spectacular, rich and inventive, not to mention plentiful, and since the silly plot and goofy humor aren't too pervasive, this movie's status as a top tier Kung Fu movie seems well-earned to me.

In terms of comedy it's a pretty inauspicious start for Chan (bwoing!) but the fights are super fun to watch and the absurd, nonsensical plot keeps things moving at an entertaining pace. The ending is hilariously, refreshingly abrupt.

When you watch a lot of martial arts films, you see the pattern: You did me (or my family or my school) wrong, now I want revenge -- let's fight! When Chan burst onto the scene, he helped push choreography further (like preventing the master from walking on the floor in this movie). He did so with quite a few winks and elbow pokes, infusing the fights with comedy. This was where he started. It's still worth watching.

What a joyful and jokey display of acrobatics. This movie is a blast, save for one major distraction and ethical pitfall, which is a fairly lengthy scene made of animal cruelty. Shame.

Features a nail biting scene of a live cat winning a fight against what appears to be a live cobra, as well as a pretty interesting score, in addition to Jackie Chan's trademark style of goofball choreography already more or less in place.

This flick never skips a beat. It's tense, action-packed, full of incredible choreography, and silly (often juvenile) humour which is nevertheless still funny. Featuring a bizarre soundtrack cobbled together from other films, and Jean-Michel Jarre put to use both effectively and incongruously. Also a man dying after Jackie hits him in the nuts. Brilliant and arresting entertainment.
