Beatiful and intelligent. I learned something from this film.

Points for exposing one of the more neglected dark areas of American history to film, and minus the absolution for Ethan doing the right thing. About half way thorough the movie slows & becomes rote & predictable, lots of pretty stuff. My alternative more interesting ending: Ethan withholds evidence, husband fries, and either girl spurns him anyway or he gets girl only to live out the rest of his life in abject misery from guilt.

Beautiful, yes: probably one of the most beautiful films I've ever seen. Good? No. It's disjointed, awkward, and fumbles around until the end, where the unsatisfying end falls flat.

Beautiful cinematography and score.

an utterly fantastic movie, the cinematography and score are indescribably great. a visually stunning adaptation to a fantastic book. this movie has a wonderful use of silence, letting the scenes speak for themselves, and the story here is amazing. this has been overlooked by too many people; dont be one of them.
