For a while there, Mike Myers was actually entertaining, and this movie just might be the best thing he's ever done. A sharp script, fun performances, and plenty of laughs, especially from Myers as the old Scottish man ("Head! Pants! Now!"). Very rewatchable and endlessly quotable.

Mike Myers' The Wedding Singer, even though it came out five years earlier. It's a shame that Mike didn't do anything else like this, although I could see it going the tiresome way of Black Sheep pretty quickly. I have to imagine it didn't help getting piles of money for the Austin Powers and Shrek series. Maybe his head got too big. Maybe he still cries himself to sleep on his huge pillow.

Hmmm, apparently Mike Meyers used to be talented...and...funny. Recommended mostly thanks to Arkin and cameos by Steven Wright, Charles Grodin and Phil Hartman.

Sublimely hilarious and a thankfully subdued Myers in the main role let this quirky movie shine. Not great, but better than any Austin Powers flick.

So, Mike Meyers nowadays is kinda sucky, but this movie is one of his more underrated and yet one of his funniest. I would definitely recommend it to anybody.

There were some funny parts, but I certainly wouldn't watch this again. The weirdest part for me is that Mike Myers' character seems to be unemployed and homeless but this is never addressed.

One of Myers best performances. I am not a big fan of Nancy Travis but she does well here and Arkin shines. Entertaining movie.

It's Mike Myers being broad and precious, but without the shitty overselling of his other movies. The "hilarious" beat poetry really was the pits though. There's also this focus-grouped hipness about it that renders it arcane to anyone that didn't watch 120 Minutes in the early 90's.

Silly little Mikey Myers rom-com back before he became huge with Austin Powers. It has a few decent laughs and he does his trademark imitations playing his own father in one hackneyed role. Overall not bad for a chuckle if you're bored.

Fun romantic comedy with lots of Mike Myers bits and a good showing by Nancy Travis. Twist was very obvious from the introduction. Great flirting but the second half was not as funny and almost a drag until the physical comedy bits during the attack. Fav scene: playing with meat at the butcher shop.

First time we get to see Myers' obsession with Scottish accents, and on top of that an OK movie.

Some decent laughs, though it runs out of steam before the ending. Also fails to really answer the question how in the hell do you survive in San Francisco as a poet?

Myers tried to make the transition to leading man with S.I.M.A.A.M with predictably mixed results. It's no surprise the scenes that play like sketch comedy are the funniest because that's where Myers' strengths lie. So while he is funny portraying an outsized caricature of a working class Scotsman, his tendency to oversell or highlight jokes in bright neon lights elsewhere gets old fast. Kudos for trying to do something halfway original, but it's a black comedy watered down for mass consumption.

Not so much a movie, but a pile of unused ideas, jokes and skits that Mike Myers couldn't get on to SNL or one of his other movies.

Mike Myers has a chance to exhibit his charm here, back when he had some. It's too bad the flick isn't... you know... funny. Except for the few minutes that Phil Hartman is on the screen. The world lost a great one with him.

Wo-man. WOOOOMAN. Definitely one of Mike Myers' coolest flicks. Nice direction by Tommy Schlamme, who would go on to team up with Aaron Sorkin on such hit shows as Sports Night and The West Wing.

I found the movie mildly entertaining probably because it is a '93 movie that I am watching in '21 and I don't recognize anyone from the cast. It is also not a movie you take too seriously or apply logic to. The hero (Mike Myers) is over the top whereas everyone else does a decent job. There are some good shots of San Francisco City.

Is it a better love story than Twilight? Yes. Is Twilight more enjoyable (even if purely because of its shittyness)? Yes. The are some sweet moments, and some funny ones, but this is not a quality movie

Mike Myer's best film, by far. Entertaining, witty and warm. Myers plays a sympathetic yet neurotic main character. Not as much about the story as the delivery and the wit by Myer. His role as his father is hilarious in this movie.

I thought I would give this a go (in 2008) having enjoyed other Mike Myers films in the early '90s, but it just seemed so dated and I stopped watching. Maybe it does get better by the end, but I didn't stick around to find out.

They had the rights to use "There She Goes" and they got their moneys worth. Mike Myers as the dad is fun but it's all about the Charles Grodin cameo.

"I believer I ordered the...large...cappuccino?" "His head is like Sputnik!" These are lines quoted often in our family even 30 years later. The movie isn't great, but Myers' clowning is fun. Fun fact: Nancy Travis is not the same actress from "Groundhog Day", they just play the same "bland 90s love interest" character.

A lazily presented plot (about a couple that's rather bland aside from the key point of irony that is regrettably explained away in a disappointing final twist) featuring a few too many 90s music-backed time-passing montages and laughably breezed-over detective work in its final act is dotted with enough quirky secondary characters (see Myers' ridiculous stereotypical Scotsman, the "too nice" police chief, the absent-minded pilot-"I just had the weirdest dream...") to make it worth sticking out.
