Sonic the Hedgehog: The Movie

A fun ride! The plot's nonsensical on a few levels (The Land of the Sky, which floats in the air, is held together by glaciers with magma flowing through them? What?) but the dub is decent (though annoying enough in spots to bump my rating down a bit), the art direction and animation's slick (some gamers may recognize it from the FMVs featured in Sonic CD), and the action's excellent. Recommended if you're a Sonic fan or have a hankering for a somewhat brainless but decent animated adventure.

Is it "great"? No, not really. But it's a whole lot of fun. Sure, the stuff with Sara is ridiculous, and Tails's voice in the English dub is the worst thing I've ever heard, but it more than makes up for it with a wickedly good soundtrack and a touching ending. Also, the art style is reminiscent of the opening animation for Sonic CD, which is always a delight.

First half was great, finale resorts to a bunch of lights jumping across a background as a fight scene. Still good for a game adaption movie.
