Sordid Lives

Perhaps not the greatest piece of film-making around (why is it always so painfully obvious when plays are transferred to screen?), but damn is it funny. I defy anyone to keep a straight face (as it were) in Leslie Jordan's scenes.

Four words: "Legs akimbo: The Movie"!

I mainly watched this due to nostalgic memories of the crush I had on Olivia Newton-John as a kid, but once she sings the title track, my interest in this strained, ersatz-Southern soap-opera-y "comedy" waned considerably. Very, very fake, even more fake than Newton-John's accent, and including boom mics in the mirrors, and not in a John Waters kind of way, either. I fast-forwarded a lot.
