Insipid, treacly misfire wastes two comic greats in Ball and Hope by giving them nothing to push against, and saddling them with a nauseating brat in young Saunders, who seems to be trying (or directed to be trying) a bad Shirley Temple impression. A laughless misfire.

Doesn't have Shirley Temple like in the original Little Miss Marker (1934), but Mary Jane Saunders was cute enough. More importantly Sorrowful Jones (1949) unites Bob Hope & Lucille Ball, which is a team I loved seeing formed! Their first of four pictures together and they find the chemistry even if there is a more serious tone to the mildly comical story. Becomes a fine movie, pretty close to the original.
