Huge fan of Groundhog Day here, so I was probably predisposed to like this movie, seeing as it's basically Groundhog Day in an Inception suit. Very solid performance from Jake Gyllenhaal. I was a bit iffy on the ending though, which knocked it down from great to good.

Relentlessly entertaining, with remarkably swift pacing and a game Gyllenhaal performance (one of his best). Jake even sells his emotional scene and the film earns its sappy moments. Jones is clearly preoccupied with questions of morality when facing technological advancement, injecting familiar yet still fascinating sci-fi concepts into a thriller variation on 'Groundhog Day'. People give the ending a hard time but is one really much more far-fetched than the other? Suspend disbelief and enjoy!

A perfectly mediocre film marked by commonplace features such as adequately decedent acting performances, tolerable dialogue, relatively forgettable characters, passable visuals and special effects, a typical and predictable Hollywood conclusion, and insignificant social importance. Merely a handful of small changes could have made this movie into a film with artistic merit and moral implications, a fact that adds to the disappointment of the wholeheartedly average experience.

Decent thriller with a sci-fi twist. Plot holes are aplenty, but the interesting concept behind the film is still executed quite well. Gyllenhaal is solid at the lead, and Jones creates an exciting atmosphere with good pacing. Shame the ending feels like a cop-out.

Gets constantly worse throughout leading up to a terrible, corny, unbelievable ending. The premise is cool and the opening was pretty damn great but it sadly builds up to a whole lotta lame. That said, it's entertaining enough and it passes the time. It's just that the potential for this movie wasn't fully reached.

Source code is a genius sci-fi thriller. Very smart in its descriptions of physics and a very well written script. At only a 94 mins of runtime Source Code is an in your face no holds barred action flick. Gyllenhaal and Monaghan are fantastic and have such good chemistry. Farmiga does a good job as well. Very much in depth, engaging and ultimately an interesting conclusion that will blow your mind. Source Code so far is the best movie of 2011 but there are still many to come.

The film undergoes this shift about halfway through and starts undermining all of the interesting things it was setting up in the first half, both in the mechanics (it wasn't a matter of suspension of disbelief, the logical leaps were so distracting I was missing dialog) and in the subtext (which, for a while there, looked like it might have become the text). The latter is particularly unfortunate, as it sets out on a pretty interesting path.

There may be holes in the plot, and the ramifications of some of the things that end up happening aren't properly addressed, but this was a very good movie if one just goes along with its preposterous scenario. I had a hunch about where things were going pretty early in the film and I was right, but it was really enjoyable to simply watch the events unfold. It's pretty exciting and kind of humorous, too.

'Source Code' becomes increasingly more ambitious as it moves along, and my fear is that audiences will miss out on what it has to offer. This isn't a cut-and-dry science-fiction plot. Director Duncan Jones and Writer Ben Ripley have ideas popping up all over the map here. While none of the science holds any ground, the story races along combining whodunit thrills, questions concerning the nature of reality, possibility and morality, all topped with dramatic performances. Highly recommended.

Before I start, I would just like to say that I would very much like to romance Monaghan. That's not a euphemism for a quick one, I actually want to take her out for dinner and a movie. I'm thinking sushi and Robocop... not the remake, obviously. This lady is classy. Afterwards we'd go for a stroll at the end of which I'd hold her close and say "Let's go to your hotel room- My place is a complete fucking dump." Then we'd make sweet love like rabid wombats. Anyway, Source Code was kind of meh.

It was pretty thrilling the entire time. Yes there are holes but when you're dealing with things like this, usually the plot has those. Just let yourself go, enjoy the ride. It's a fun sci-fi flick with an interesting premise, and at this point in time, maybe we should be praising a movie for having a cool idea.

A very good film that had a great place for an ending, but then they decided to make it 5 minutes longer with a happier second ending. It's not that I don't like happy endings, it was just way less effective than it could have been. If I ever watch it again I might just stop it where it should have ended.

Great premise, great pace and great Groundhog Day-ish moments, but the plot is limping heavily and not even the charming Monaghan or Gyllenhaal can do anything about that. Source Code evolves in a strange way, the bad guy has no reasons (but then again, who is the bad guy in SC?) and the ending, don't even get me started about the ending! It could have been so great!

Kind of like MOON, but the emphasis is more on the vague, implausible science and less on the character-based struggles. So, when the science starts making less and less sense, it's a problem. I didn't really care how these things were happening or what the science was, except that the movie kept trying to MAKE me care. And even though MOON was derivative in a lot of ways, this felt less original. It is mildly enjoyable and well-crafted. But none of it lingers, and the cast is lackluster.

You guys are crazy. This is exactly what I want from a sci-fi flick. It succeeds well at everything it attempts to do, and faulting it for not trying to do more is bullshit, as are a lot of the other complaints I see here. Groundhog Day meets Minority Report meets Inception et cetera, and it does each individual borrowed element as good as or better than all of the films it borrows from, even if the finished product isn't quite as good as the likes of Inception. Well done, Duncan.

A disappointing effort after Moon, but anything shy of a total masterpiece would disappoint after that stunning debut. Still, Jones asserts himself as one of the top sci-fi filmmakers going. Gyllenhaal is great, and one can hardly fault him for falling for Monaghan. The script takes some predictable turns, but what plot quibbles I may have are overruled by how much I came to care about these characters. The Farmiga/Wright stuff can be a bit heavy handed, but the final scene is pure perfection.

The moral significance it brings to bear, to which the movie remains completely oblivious, is disburbingly unappealing. I don't know if making a commercially friendly feature is Jones' way of moving ahead with another uncommercial though socially resonant project, but at least he continues to show off his chops as a visually / technically competent director. Sad to say, the only thing the story inspires is anger and boredom.

A fairly intriguing and enjoyable sci-fi thriller. There are some plot holes, but the concept is soild enough to plough right through them. That said there certainly was space and oppitunity for further elabortaion in terms of the whole concept of the 'source code' itself, but the slightly short run time and clunky script put pay to that. The performances are solid, the action fun enough, and I actually thought the score was excellent, if very understated. I would happily sit though it again.

In the evergrowing field of augmented reality sci-fi, Source Code doesn't bring much to the table that hasn't been seen in some incarnation before. But the way it handles the high-concept premise and unfolds the story works brilliantly, letting Gyllenhaal's charming protagonist take control and dictate the plotting, rather than being forced through a series of contrived plot-twists.

More plot holes than pot holes on on my road at the moment. The potential of this movie was so great, but the execution was so horribly bad that i'm just down right pissed off. It's like a weird updated version of quantum leap. The acting in this is good because Gyllenhaal rarely disappoints. Unfortunately, this is bad sci-fi. Good sci-fi tends to adhere to some kind of logic principle even if the ideas are far fetched. This movie is an incoherent hodgepodge which combines too many concepts that contradict, create plotholes, and just don't work together. Is it the matrix, are they time traveling, is it another reality, a dying hallucination, just what the fuck?

Somewhat interesting if preposterous premise undermined by weak characterisation and too much half-hearted cheap sentiment as the narrative unfolds. The political message about technology and the war on terror is also a little half-baked. So, plot-wise (spoiler follows): if he succeeded in “creating another world”, what happened to the Sean Fentress from that world? And whose identity will he adopt from that point on: his own or Fentress’s?

Takes inspiration from numerous sources (Groundhog Day, Deja Vu, Assassin's Creed, Quantum Leap), but puts its own unique twist on it. There were a lot of ways it could have gone (personally would have liked to see more narrowing down of suspects), but it was interesting to see the story unfold as it did. I agree the ending could have been more powerful had it ended three minutes sooner, but hell I'll be honest, I liked the ending they went with.

Yeah, it's a sci fi flick that's basically Groundhog Day as a military science project, but I liked it a lot. The ending isn't satisfactory (it should've ended like 5 minutes earlier), but I actually liked Gyllenhaal a lot, and I'm always a fan of Michelle Monaghan. Even though Source Code isn't quite as good as "Moon", I'll still be one of the first in line to see what Duncan Jones decides to direct next.

As for execution in terms of entertainment, this film could be considered perfect. Not for a second was I bored with this clever, intricately plotted and rather original train-ride (ba-dum) and I had a great time watching it. The problem with this film is digesting it and figuring out, as I walked away from the screening and thinking about it now, the troubling implications of its logistics and morals. Loses a lot of points for the cheesy ending, but more points for the film seemingly fast forwarding towards the resolution. I kept thinking of 12 Monkeys after every 8 minutes...if only this was as good. While the idea of the Source Code technology is a pretty good idea for a film, the rest of this is very run of the mill. The explanation of how it works is completely ludicrous and the ride into how wonderful life is toward the end initiated some serious eye-rolling. Old Jake was entertaining though and this works as a very contained thriller. I swear its missing a 3rd act, however.

Remained for the most part captivated throughout. A detective whodunit it with a twist. A little bit Groundhog Day, but much bleaker. Also reminds me of the X-Files episode: Monday. You want some quantum mechanics background watch Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives, a PBS documentary on Hugh Everett-- Mark Oliver Everett's (Eels) Dad. I loved the Metra train frozen moment in time near the end. I often sit on the "L" train wondering about all the separate lives myself. Parallel lives, well . . .

A polished action thriller, but something was missing and it didn't live up to the hype/promise of being a tricksy mindbender to rival Inception. Maybe too short, too simple, or not enough at stake? The non-linear narrative was executed well, but didn't raise the film above recent middling fare like Vantage Point or Deja Vu. In the end it was more like ethical musings than a saving the world climax. Didn't love Gyllenhaal's acting; Farmiga was good though. Got a feeling I might forget this one.

Not as bad as I thought it would be. It's 12 Monkeys meets Groundhog Day. The SF idea is passable, though a little better pseudo-scientific explanation would have helped (many worlds QM, dust hypothesis...). The ending is sound given the premise. But the military setting is silly and formulaic, and the names, good miss Goodwin and ruthless mr. Ruthledge... laughable.

It's hard not to be disappointed after the greatness of that little movie called Moon. But this is not bad at all. The plot holes distract a bit and the almost absolute disregard for the moral implications of such a technology hints at what this movie could have been had it taken a more thought-provoking approach to the story (which curiously enough is the approach that made Moon so good). But Jones' surefooted and competent execution makes this an enjoyable ride (pardon the pun).

"Source Code" is an acceptably entertaining mainstream actioner -however, given the intricate premise and frickin' David Bowie's son behind the camera, it should have been better than that. Ripley's script unsuccessfully attempts to tackle some deep concepts, but it all remains relatively amusing, because of the brisk pace and Jones' steady hand. But the ending is just one of the cheesiest cop-outs in recent memory. What could have been a hell of a ride, ends up moderately trippy and contrived.

"Source Code" successfully combines a fantastic plot with super-tight action. Jake Gyllenhaal is just the right guy for this, part action hero part confused dude trying to figure out what's happening. In all honesty, the ending did seem a little too far-fetched in its optimism, leaving a bittersweet aftertaste. Despite that, there's no mistaking the potency of the material and the directorial bravado that brought it to vivid life.

Unoriginal rehash of sci-fi ideas that have been done better many times before. Brisk, energetic and unpretentious sci-fi-esque entertainment. Source Code benefits from a small principal cast, an appealing lead in Jake Gyllenhaal, an intriguing mind-teasing alternate reality concept as well as a modest attempt at poignancy. With a plot like this containing so many twists, Source Code had a tight rope to walk, and unfortunately it falls off about halfway through. It soon becomes sentimental and cheesy, and frankly I didn't buy the way the twists and the film logic were presented. In addition, the "villain" is such a caricature that he may as well have had a dastardly moustache. However, it's still a fun flick and kudos to Gyllenhaal for carrying the entire thing. While I'm all for suspension of disbelief when it comes to sci-fi movies, the logical leaps in this one just leaves you sitting back and wondering what the hell was going through Ben Ripley's mind when he penned this script. The movie is extremely shallow, complete with typical wooden acting from the characters involved, and a mis-placed romance storyline which the movie could really have done without. Difficult to write about without spoilers, but this was an effective thriller that could EASILY have been an incredible film, if the director (or probably, studio) had been a little braver.

yonetmen kendini gelisterecekken geriye gitmis. senaryosu kotu, atmosferini tam olusturamamis. oyucu secimlerinin hatali olusuda etkili bunda. yine onceki filminde oldugu gibi kahramanin pisikolojine guzel odaklanmis. romantik yonude filme katki yapacakken kostek olmus. alalade cipsliklerden iste kisa olmasida iyi olmus. yonetmene tavsiyem aronofsky'nin cizgisini takip etsin.

A superbly crafted entertainment, and the best time travel flick since...gosh, I dunno. "Star Trek IV?" Doesn't make a lot of sense--it is a time travel flick, after all--but it's surpremely well made and never loses its sense of fun. Duncan Jones is clearly a major talent, and Gyllenhaal holds the screen with a surprising authority. The most effective genre picture of the year to date. Definitely recommended.

It was a pretty cool film, for the most part. I really like stories that deal with time travel or time loops or alternate realities and all that. So, in that respect, I liked it a lot. Unfortunately, it was too conventional and 'Hollywood' for me. Especially the ending. The whole thing almost felt like an episode of 24, which is not ideal. It's another one of those films which has great ideas and concepts behind it, but the execution just doesn't match up to them.

Sure the concept in Source Code could have been explored more fully, but the film itself is still a captivating and enjoyable watch

Fun, glossy popcorner with a pocorn-y ending.

It's a sci-fi in the present day movie, which are always fun for a kewl high-concept packaged with nice production values. The problem is that the actual sci-fi content is always going to be very "mild" and nothing that you haven't already seen in a holodeck or time travelling episode of Star Trek. The camera loves Gyllenhaal and this was a fun watch, but it's just very... "mild". I'd be hard pressed for a reason to sit down and watch it again.

I really wish it had ended with that surprisingly touching bittersweet freeze frame that brought the character-driven emotion underlying this mind-bending thriller to the forefront, instead of the less daring "all's well" happy ending (even if it did offer another sci-fi twist). Regardless, this is well-acted, well-paced, and highly engaging throughout, with a nice balance between the subtle moral drama at headquarters and the more straight forward whodunit tension and deja vu fun on the train.
