The CGI is pretty glaring but the story is quite interesting. To me, the Yamato franchise, and the wider Leijiverse is the pinnacle of Space Opera. The animation and characters are some of the weaker ones of the franchise but they still worked well enough. I liked the story but loved the soundtrack.
