Special Effects

Reminiscent of Hitchcock and De Palma, and perhaps even early Ferrara in a strange undefinable way, Cohen's script never capitalises on its interesting ideas, and it falls between two stools, neither successsful as exploitation or as a character study nor is it entirely sure of what it wants to be. The acting is also questionable, even from Bogosian, but it is watchable due to the slightly unpredictable development of the story and Cohen's typically skewed perspective (moral and artistic).
