Points for uniqueness, but on the whole it's a surprisingly dull mess. The dialogue is way overwritten, and the mediocre acting is far from capable of pulling it off. The visuals have some strong moments, but not enough to carry the film.

This was something different. A murder case with a artistic touch. I agree Specter of the Rose (1946) goes a little all over the place, but this was a positively dizzy experience. Ivan Kirov only did one movie his entire life and his final scene is one of the most fabulous ones of 1946!
