Lloyd's last silent film is curiously episodic and feels like a collection of impressive set pieces lacking adequate structural support, yet the standout moments--the Coney Island sequence, the home in the back of the truck, the scene with Babe Ruth, and the final chase sequence--combined with the scenic N.Y locations--make this an entertaining, borderline essential, entry in Lloyd's canon. The nostalgia for a simpler time is resonant in more ways than one.

A Lloyd film I have no reservations about. He's funny and actually somewhat charismatic, the film has some very well constructed gags, great pacing and a nice story. Also Babe Ruth.

I'm not big on the first half of the movie but the rabble rousing second half is everything I could want from a silent comedy.

I'll never quite understand Harold Lloyd love, but the later part is great and full of energy. When that wagon crashes into the support beam I had a verbal reaction.

More of a time piece than a movie to me. A couple decent gags here or there. Loved the Coney Island scenes. Also babe Ruth!

A trip down nostalgia lane with the on-scene location shoots in New York and Coney Island. Seemingly disjoined at times. Some of the gags run a bit long but that's typical of silent slapstick. Good dog. Babe Ruth was in it briefly but gets a major credit. Fav scene: rumble in Brooklyn with an appearance by Iron Man.

Pleasant, though it feels stretched out at an hour and a half or so. Aiming squarely at nostalgic appeal with the horse-drawn trolley, a vision of New York crowded with lovably affable Civil War veterans, and a nice big showcase of Coney Island (favorite location of so many comedies from the teens). Could have used some trimming, but the big moments work as you'd expect from Lloyd.

The are lots of really fun and inventive parts most of them in the finale act but a lot of scene tended to drag. Really fun but not among the Harold Lloyd's best.

Lloyd didn't have the timelessness of Chaplin, nor the daring, genius stunt work of Keaton. I can't quite understand what made him the big box office draw he was in the 20's, but even ignoring that, this is one of his lesser comedies. Skip this one unless you've got a thing for the silent era, fodder included.
