Agent No 326 is ordered to stop a spy-ring, but he falls in love with one of the spies, Sonja. No 326 tries to find the head of that organisation. He doesn't know that this is banker Haghi, with whom Sonja bets, that No 326 will identify him, because she has fallen in love, too. So haghi tries everything to confuse the secret service and to neutralize No 326. (imdb)

Lang's silent spy film kind of reminded me of a more refined version of Feuillade's Les Vampires and Fantomas, which makes sense because it came 15 years later. though it's almost as convoluted, which probably comes because it's not a serial, so there don't have to be big cliffhangers every once in a while, etc. It's generally enjoyable, but regarding Lang silents, Haghi is no Dr. Mabuse, and the film doesn't reach those levels either. Great transitions early on. A solid entry for Lang, though.

It may be a forced return to pulp roots for Lang, but it's still well worth a watch. Lang uses what he's learned and brings an updated artistry to the cheap adventures he started with, using incentive camerawork to excite without extravagant sets and big effects

A well constructed, if convoluted, spy yarn that is a remarkable display of Lang's visual storytelling ability, and his formal mastery is the main reason why this overlong 'thriller' rarely becomes tedious, but it isn't as fondly remembered as his more famous silent films because it's just a fancy genre piece that succeeds on the strength of its craft. Nonetheless, Lang creates an alluring atmosphere of exotic intrigue, and he orchestrates some fantastic scenes in tunnels and stairwells.

After a lengthy title sequence the film was intense right from the start. Fritz Lang used some amazing visuals, camera angles, fast paced editing and great characters to make this an amusing and enthralling watch. Even though the pacing is quite good the film drags in places and the film is too long at almost 3 hours.
