Spies in Disguise

The 1st act of Spies in Disguise is trope-laden to the point of being off-putting. The theme of 'violence begets more violence' is presented obnoxiously shallowly at first, but as the film progresses and the Holland's character sticks to his to convictions, it actually leads to a satisfying payoff. The animation is good, with particular praise to the motion of clothing (that 1st act was hard-going). The voice acting suffers from its star power though, sounding too conventional and recognisable.

It's entertaining enough and cute when it needs to be, its plot and its ideas needed more organizing and at first it tried to be satirical, only to play everything straight later.

Annoying, two dimensional characters, lame old SJW ideas, loser wins the day/cookie cutter plot, sprinkle a few unnecessarily scary Disney scenes for toddlers, and voila, we have another run of the mill animation. I can't believe I flew to Uruguay just to see this crap on opening day.

There is no specific area Spies in Disguise (2019) excels in, but it's an adequate and polished mainstream animation flick which pushes enough buttons to entertain and not annoy. There is a fine balance there. With that said, the kids really liked it.

Too generic and easily forgettable, but still watchable.

Perhaps more likeable than some have given it credit for. Thematically it’s undeniably unfocused and very lightweight, but it’s well voiced, funnier than expected and has a pretty solid villain. When the kids ask to watch it again, and the little fuckers will, I won’t have any issues putting it on, which is some kind of praise I guess.

This film has some entertaining and cute moments. The voice cast does a good job with their roles. The script has some good moments and some predictable ones. Overall I would recommend this movie.

This is a classic case of "it's fine". Nothing that is particularly outstanding, and the animation style itself is probably the weakest point. Still, it has a fantastic, likeable cast and some good moments to keep you engaged. Unfortunately, though, it's probably not re-watchable.

Bland. I had no idea he would spend most of the movie as a bird. Fav scene: intro with Will Smith taking on the Yakuza with a gong rolling around and him doing over the top athletic spy stuff.

Lance Sterling is a charming spy and perhaps even the best in his business. His opposite, Walter, is very smart, but less useful in social life. He is, however, responsible for the very latest gadgets. He provides the gadgets that Lance uses during his missions. Due to unexpected events, the two gentlemen have to rely on each other, although the cooperation does not immediately get ahead. In order to save the world, they have to put their differences aside.

Not sure what's with the black leads in animation needing to be transformed into something else as if it's more appealing. Will Smith is plenty charming- but whether Shark Tale or Spies in Disguise, somehow that's what they do. Even then, when he is represented, Sterling's caricaturized with a chiseled jaw and smug expression. Just call the movie 'I'm a Pigeon' and cut out everything else. I'm sorry- if you can't tell, so much gets in the way of me enjoying this film, which is not written well.

I'm honestly surprised that a movie this bad managed to be this fun. At first I was annoyed with the movie and then I noticed I was laughing.

Will Smith and Tom Holland make a really good voice pairing for this enjoyable animated film.

Surprisingly good. My only complaint is the appearance of Sterling in human form. That face...

Good fun for the family. It's got just the right mix of humor for the kids and the adults alike.

I love the fast action and scifi lingo, and above all the charming roles of the birds that added immensely in keeping the story colorful and lively. The movie also portrayed well a typical millennial guy. Very entertaining! MY SCORING: 99-96=Great; 95-90=Very good; 89-85=Good; 84-80=So-so; 79-70=Boring; Below 70=Forget it.

It's a fun movie. Nothing special, but not bad either. The concept was a really unique idea. Unfortunately, I don't think they had the strongest idea of what they would be able to do with that idea, so some places fell a little flat, but Will Smith and Tom Holland definitely saved it from being bad.

An excellent voice cast underscores a rather imaginative children's sci-fi/spy story that surprisingly didn't become infuriatingly goofy and pandering. There's also a bit of a message here that a few kids and most adults need to hear.

A few good chuckles sometimes go a long way. More grounded and dramatic moments don't work as well when the premise is insane from the get-go and characters are bonkers. Best pigeons of cinema since "Bolt".

A little chaotic, but it's passable and often funny.

It has some annoying boomer jokes, mostly just very stupid ones (the whole “kitty, glitter and unicorns” in this make me want to die); I did manage to laugh a few couple of times, surprisingly. It doesn’t feel as soullessly capitalist as Illumination… but is very very close, with the whole stupid pigeons, dead-parents-quirky-millennial-yellow-hoodie-with-flannel Tom Holland and CON CALMA DE DADDY YANKEE, UNA CANCION DE REGGETON

Spies and Disguise'e ba-yıl-dım! komik, eğlenceli ve aksiyon dolu. Vermeye çalıştığı mesaj ve başarısı takdire şayan. Will Smith ve Tom Holland kendi aralarında muhteşem bir uyum yakalayıp filmin "parlamasını" sağlamışlar. İkisini gerçek bir filmde de görmeyi çok istiyorum.

Lots of very funny moments, but a terrible ending.

Will Smith is an arrogant super spy who is turned into a pigeon by well-meaning tech guru Tom Holland. They need to team up to pursue arch-villain Ben Mendelsohn while avoiding their own people who think Smith is a traitor. This is a great concept for a fairly mediocre film. All the voice work is superb, especially Mendelsohn who frequently steals the show, and it's fairly funny, but it's mired down by almost constant, mediocre action sequences.

Now, as much as of a fan as I am for Will Smith...I can't say I loved this movie, which I mostly found to be middle of the road and forgettable. I love spy films, but I don't love spy films because they're spy films. I love them because they require brilliant problem solving, and Spies in Disguise was the opposite of brilliant. It was about a gimmick. That's it. And I was annoyed because of that.

While it feels extremely dated and generic it's also surprisingly entertaining.

Passable spy film for the whole family. It's no match for Pixar's "The Incredibles" which it reminded me of. This would have actually worked better as a straight spy film, as the things that make it stand out (pigeon transformation, cute gadgets, etc.) don't really work nor improve the film. At least it looks good - especially the sea/waves FX were impressive.

Just really generic and mediocre, but it has its good things too; there's some sort of message in it which is nice, you know.
