Bland as oatmeal, but it's not terrible. Still don't know what a Cimarron is.

Beautiful animation. I'd have preferred the horse didn't speak at all, but the body language still made this a special film for children. I'd also have preferred the horses being less sentient, but simply tell a story of freedom for the Lakota reflected through the horses, but the overall product is not bad. Did I mention the animation is gorgeous? Fav scene: the locomotive falling downhill was scary.

I wonder how responsible this movie was for a generation of horse girls

Gorgeous art on the breaking edge of 2D and 3D integration, when 3D was not a shortcut but an enhancement, and a soaring soundtrack and score overcome poorly written narration to center a simple and moving tale of friendship and anticolonialism. A uniquely beautiful experience.

Great adventure animation movie with horses and lovely music with Bryan Adams, also a movie full of emotions. Brilliant !

More generous for kids movies. Dreamwork took a chance with this one: animating horses being complicated from the start, and choosing to make the horses unable to talk were all risks. In the end, I think it works, even if the theme remains set firmly on reflections about freedom and the plot is simple. The animation is great and looks nice, the emotions go through even without words. The music needs variation though. Many kids could love this still.

Good movie for children , animation was ok. Some nice facial expression where no dialogue is needed.

Really interesting story telling, and use of musical numbers to actually progress the story or convey emotions. I wish they went all the way with the horse not speaking, and didn't have the horse's 'heart' narrate the story.

Found myself wishing it stuck with the unique opening narrative of wild horses just living life, racing eagles, fighting cougars and such, but I guess humans do be like that sometimes, breaking (in) where they're not wanted, and the anti-colonialist tale that follows is a good one, full of badassery and humour (see Spirit vs. train, horseshoes), with heart and a happy ending to boot ("I'll never forget that boy and how we won back our freedom together"). Wonderfully emotive animation and music.

Just because the horses move quickly, doesn't mean the story does, too. Boring and hokey.

Well crafted, beautifully designed animated film has faint echoes of THE LION KING in some of its story beats but stands on its own, thanks to a serious, straightforward tone deemphasising the anthropomorphism of its animal characters which makes the dramatic elements hit harder. Unnecessary narration from Damon is a minor misstep; Bryan Adams’ horrifically bombastic song score keeps this from masterpiece territory, displaying a puzzling ham-fistedness that the rest of the film avoids.

If you like animation, if you like Lion King era Disney, if you love animals, if you love horses in particular, if you like uplifting stories about freedom and friendship, then you owe yourself to check this out. I've seen this 4+ times and still love it to bits.

Really a pretty good movie -- it all hangs together nicely, the classic animation is lovely, and it tells an engaging story mostly without any dialogue.

Not very good. It's beautiful, but the two-dimensional "message," the cardboard-cutout characters, and the bad pop songs really detract from the whole experience.

I really liked how it tries do something different by not having talking animals like most animations, but conveys the horse's emotions through his behavior and facial expressions. But the story is sappy. On top of that the soundtrack by Bryan Adams is horribly corny.

Fazla Bryan Adams. Özgür at Mustang'ın ailesi, ailesinden ayrılışı, insanları ve kızılderilileri tanıyışı, aşkı anlattığı animasyon.

An uninteresting story truly that I can only recommend if you want to watch it with your kids or maybe if you really like horses? It's not too bad, it doesn't torture your brain, but there isn't anything that it might be worth to watch for. Not recommended.

ok, the horse has better principles than the human being but can only perform memorable actions when extremely humanized. What exactly is the point?

I feel like this was a great movie that kind of got in its own way and just made it kind of okay. If you eliminate the distracting and unnecessary voiceover and get rid of the pretty bad songs and stuck to a standard score, I think this could have been quite a beautiful experience. It works more than it doesn't, but any time someone started singing or the horse voiceover started it took me out of it. It's not subtle at all, so I don't think the voiceover is necessary, even for young kids.

Some of the CGI looks a bit outdated these days, but I liked the western scenery; it's a genre and era that could be used a lot more in animation. "Spirit" doesn't speak which makes it challenging to identify with him and leaves the viewer a bit outside. The songs by Bryan Adams sound quite corny and there are no real highlights. This was followed by a TV-series which is apparently quite different.
