Split is so resolutely downbeat that I can't say it's a film I felt particularly satisfied by or even particularly enjoyed, indeed the longer it goes on the sillier it gets. However, Split is by no means a bad film and I appreciate it's attempt to be different and some moments will certainly live long in the memory.

A film which demonizes a mental health disorder is in incredibly bad taste and offensive. Then to turn around and spout nonsense about such people being nonhuman is disgusting. I would give this a negative score if possible. How a film like this saw the light of day, let alone a wide release and positive reception shows how insensitive American society is to mental illness.

Call me old fashioned but I preferred his movie about putting kids in ovens. The split personality gimmick should've died off the minute Steve Urkel made his adjustments to Cool Juice resulting in the much more stable Boss Sauce.

W3E1P1S1V1M1A1R1. My biggest problem was most folks' biggest joy--the cliche schizophrenia by McAvoy. Mainly the writer's fault, but for a movie positing that the multiple identities are more than just creations of the imagination, but rather actual "people," the characters were all cliches straight out of a dull imagination. Kid identity with lisp; tough guy with Boston accent; woman wears turtlenecks, etc.

Pretty entertaining for the ludicrous subject matter. McAvoy does a really good with the mix of over the top and yes even subtle nuance. I squealed when the music changed at the end for the surprise.

McAvoy is great, without him the movie would be merely an interesting premise. I think it misses at the end by not being what it alluded to earlier. Ending is lame.

James McAvoy's impressive performance as a troubled man with two dozen distinct personalities is the most remarkable element of SPLIT, an undeniably M. Night Shyamalan film. And while it's not immune from the filmmaker's problematic tendencies--the weirdly mannered performances, the clunky dialogue, the exploitation of trauma and mental illness--he's still got a knack for suspense. You just may like this film more than you want to.

Competing with The Village for being Shyamalan’s third best. A really fun script, that allows the actors to go all out. And they all deliver, with Betty Buckley as the shining star.

Mcavoy puts on a damn good show. The visuals are satisfying to look at and its occasionally tense. It is perhaps slightly too long esp when the twist comes at the very very end and you realize this film lacks the meat you thought it might

Watch: Netflix | The film excels at using the camera to convey both POV and emotion. James McAvoy does a fantastic job playing so many unique parts (at one point he's a female character without typical female clothing and we immediately know). The ending goes all supernatural like you'd expect, and the during-credits extra hints that Shyamalan wants to either expand a cinematic universe or simply drop an Easter Egg to his fans. Overall: not a perfect film, but an enjoyable ride!
