Overkill, and the worst in the series. Too many plot threads that go nowhere, and it lacks the freshness of the original and the loopy appeal of 3 and 4.

Definately not the surprise fun film the first was. This one lived up to the low expectations most people had about the first film.

Oh my god, I actually saw this. Thanksfully I can't remember where or when, but I'm hoping it was only because I had been tied to a chair with my eyelids taped open.

Not an improvement on the first one. In fact, since we already know the kids are spies...what's the draw? A nice visual piece, but the story is unnapealing. Not as straight-to-the-heart as the first.

Cute movie, but I wouldn't watch it unless I had to to shut up a room full of sticky children.

I haven't seen the first one, but this was surprisingly entertaining and loose. The third movie, however, sucks completely.

A sequel was strictly not neccesary, and the dodgy 3-D effects does take away a lot of the relatively meager charm that the first one had.

Good movie to watch with your siblings. High-tech and modern. Plot is easy to catch although the mainstream of spy movies are too of a common now in modern times, I say this movie will still hit your screen.

The story is a bit more straight-forward, but the sibling arguments are less prominent. All in all, this is a more cohesive movie than the other two in the series.

This has got to be bad on purpose. I mean... Robert Rodriguez is a fairly competent director, right? I groaned almost every time I saw a horrendously animated creature (and there are tons of them). And it's more than obvious that the actors are all standing against a green screen. There is nothing impressive about the visuals. None of the fight choreography is creative or believable. It's possible kids between 5 and 8 could find this entertaining, but I'd feel like a bad parent if my kid saw it.

Though it's competently made, Spy Kids 2 is a classic example of the too hasty sequel, a movie with few ideas and no heart.

Meh. Actually saw this way more often than the first when I was a kid. Even then I thought a lot of the moments in it seemed pretty hokey. Especially Mike Judge and that one kid with the spikey hair. Ooh, he's such a bad boy. We know that because we're told that on numerous occasions.

It may actually be a little funnier than the first. And the kids and special effects work much better this time around. However the story line is so far out of left field from the original that it could be jarring. Even to the kids.

A worthy sequel to one of the biggest cheesefests of all time. It still aims to be the silly fun version of the spy genre it just stays as thinly plotted instead of trying to grow with its audience. Oh well cheese is good on most things so why not the spy genre?

On the second Spy Kids movie, Rodriguez brought in even more special effects and gadgets. Events on the movie are running so fast that it makes your head spin and at the end everything feels senseless. Maybe kids are getting different experience.

Essentially just same song, second verse, but it’s a very loud and noisy verse, with a guiding principle of throwing everything it has at the wall to see if it sticks with middling results. There are bits and inspired ideas that work well in isolation, especially the inclusion of Taylor and Montalban, but the film never really solidifies into a whole (and the marginalisation of Banderas and Gugino is a big mistake). Colorful and exciting enough at times to be a fun watch, but not memorable.

Loses lots of the first's cheesy kid-dreamy charm, thanks to an overload of the spy kids schtick (there's a whole department now?) and the SFX that go with it (so much green screen). New plot lines and characters are thrown in just because (see Donnagon, the in-laws). It's a mess, occasionally in an entertaining way (see Romero-"Do you think God stays in heaven because he too is afraid of what he created?"-arriving with his giant animal hybrids at the same time as the President's flying hummer).
