St. Ives

A nice, slick private detective type yarn that has Charles Bronson showing that when he's forced to he can act. This should've been made into a TV series as it's a lot of fun but is already low on violence, sex, and profanity.

Hey, this ain't half bad! Bronson is in a different sort of role here (read: no ass-kicking) but he does well and has a lot of snappy comebacks and one-liners. Fun movie.

This was better than it's reputation: It's more relaxed and tamer than Bronson's other films with director J. Lee Thompson or the ones he made with Michael Winner. Bronson even gets to do some acting here, or at least show a different side of his persona. The cast is better than usual and filled with familiar faces in early roles (Englund, Goldblum). The film takes it's time with scenes and that makes the characters and locations feel real. Too bad that the story itself is nothing special.
