Starts promising but then falls apart, I'll have to keep on waiting for a good slasher musical OH WELLLLL. Meat Loaf singing now sounds like a deaf person going bananas.

Every time the film falls into a lull, it does something unexpected and hilarious, which will make you (at least it did for me) keep watching through the next lull. Also, a terrible misuse of Meat Loaf in a FUCKING MUSICAL!

Aside from the many potholes in the story, it is a barely passable teenage horror flick, and fails to be a satisfying musical. I enjoyed a few scenes and some of the campy comedy, but the vast majority of this was tedious at best. For everything good there is something bad. The scenes with the ridiculous director were horrendous. The story and the ending are quite lame. On the bright side, it features the young and beautiful Allie MacDonald, and Minnie Driver.

a trope-hugging slasher film with a twist(it's a comedy-musical!)... is still a trope-hugging slasher film. a few good jokes, a few good songs. very good performances. was going to be a 65, but i gave it 5 extra points for Meat Loaf. the level of gore was satisfying.

I like horror & I like musicals, so this caught my attention- a couple years ago. Having finally watched it, there are several things I liked about it: the look & feel of the killer, the performances (particularly those of Allie MacDonald & frickin' Meat Loaf), the super on-the-nose stereotypes of theater people & theater culture, the opening scene, & the kills. I also liked the story of Camilla trying to live up to her mom. But, the script is really rough in spots, & the ending was...eeh.

Why Meat Loaf wasn't used more in a damn musical is beyond me. It is campy beyond belief, which I'm sure elates the horror/musical lovers...all 5 of them.

A poor slasher and a terrible musical. Don't feel obligated as I did to watch it just because the poster's awesome.

And all I can do is keep on telling you: It's silly, it's campy, but there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love it. Now don't be sad, 'cause two out of three ain't ... not all that great either, though entertaining for now.

Where did this come from? A tongue firmly in cheek musical about a phantom of the opera slasher? Plenty of gore thrown in for good measure along with some genuinely funny moments. From the moment the movie started I knew I was in for something bizarre and it delivered. More than a few of the jokes fall flat and everything feels artificially campy. Allie MacDonald is good and a very sleazy Meat Loaf plays the camp director. Recommended if only for the novelty factor.

Neither as funny as it should or could be or thought it was, nor as bad as it easily could have been. A bit too much singing but only because the songs weren't that good. Sufficient bloody murder. It depends on your tolerance for this sort of thing - but overall it was surprisingly watchable
