Steal This Movie!

Like any dramatized account of history you have to question how much of it is true and how much is purely speculation. Regardless I found this film to be highly engrossing. It features a great performance by D'Onofrio as Abbie Hoffman. This is simply a must see for anyone interested in the culture and history of the 60''s and 70's.

There are problems with this movie, the device used to propel the story is weakly contrived creating an uncomfortable pseudo documentary feel, which collapses into pure speculative drama. Yet the picture is involving, if only for the manic subject & the revolution he paints. Had the government not driven Abbey "underground" one wonders what more he may have given us. Good reason to see this picture: the feeling we might could be part of a revolution & the government is scary with power.

Has all of the political gravitas and insight of a "Bush lied people died" bumper sticker.
