Look, I don't have the time or energy to dislike this. It's innocuous for the most part and generally harmless so who cares? There was a time when being repulsed by terrible pop culture was a bandwagon I was all too happy to jump on. At a certain age you either mature past noticing (and start wearing a monocle), expand it to include all pop culture (enjoy your vinyl, hipster), shun it all together (and develop a Twitter following) or age past caring. I have past caring age.

If you imagine Sly's mom to be a mentally unbalanced, pill-popping, child-murdering psychopath, this film not only becomes more hilarious but also starts making actual sense.

While not an unmitigated disaster, this may be one of the most singularly peculiar movies ever made - effort to appeal to GOLDEN GIRLS fans cross matched with Stallone's action base satisfies neither crowd, though the fault doesn't lie with Stallone or Getty who try their best - it's the screenplay which doesn't make Getty's character (or other people's reactions to her) remotely plausible, even in a comic sense - would cops really hand over the bullhorn to a random lady during a jumper attempt?

Thrown in the same category as Oscar because they were released back-to-back, but there is a world of difference between them. Oscar is an amiable throwback to screwball comedies with a somewhat musical sense of rhythm, a great supporting cast and a few genuine laughs. This has nothing. It's was a bad idea in theory and practice, and it's truly amazing that it was even made. The best part about it is the story behind why Sly supposedly made it (i.e. he was 'tricked' by Arnie). Avoid x 2.

I think I may have a sickness. I can't seem to dislike films made in the 90s. Stallone says this is the worst film he's made, and it most certainly is not. Dumb and whatever but it's a lot of fun in parts. Dumb can be fun.

I know this movie is terrible, but its funny in places, is perfectly watchable and just seeing Sly getting bossed around by his Mom is hilarious. Come on its got Stallone in a Diaper for gods sake! I almost needed one myself I was pissing myself so much. Watch it once at least. Maybe smoke a few first.

Personally, I don't like Sylvester Stallone because he has no facial expressions (or rather he has only one which is destined for action movies only). The music, the scenography etc. is ok, the old lady rocks, but this movie would be so muuuch better with another main male actor. The plot is not teaching anything and is rather predictable (in most cases) but it manages to be still funny. The love story sucks, though; no one would like their parents to interfere. The ending smells like '90. Nice.
