Stormy Monday

It's a 1980s British quasi-neo-noir set during "America week", featuring Sting, Sean Bean, Tommy Lee Jones and polish free jazz. Low on plot, high on style. A slow burn, but an engrossing one. Really nicely shot, but lacking in the neon department. Good atmosphere. Melanie is Monotone. Sting is Sting.

This is a real 80s cult classic type film, with a gritty, noir-ish feel to it. It features an impressive cast - it's worth watching if 'just' to see Sting, Sean Bean and a youngish Tommy Lee Jones. It features slow jazz type music in the background and has perhaps a slight 'Blade Runner' feel to it, even though it doesn't have a futuristic setting. Its quite a watchable and entertaining film, so I'd recommend it, yes.

Sure the movie is mostly all style, no substance. But man what style! And what a cast! The shot of Tommy Lee Jones in front of a giant American flag is wonderfully obvious. Plus that ending is a super punch to the gut in so many ways.

Good cinematography. But the stylish atmosphere is not enough to make up for the thin plot, especially since the plot itself is all over the place from romance to crime

Very stylish. Looks gorgeous, sounds great. Awesome cast. Not the most original story, not the fastest pace, but genre-fans or arthouse affiliates won't be disappointed.
