Competent enough version of "The Cold Equations", but the filmmakers seem completely unaware of the film's immorality: it is a film that acts as if it's a "thoughtful" or "sensitive" exploration of ethical conundrums, what makes life meaningful, and so on, but the truth is that the most fundamental and yet most obvious questions do not arise. There is something frightening about the fact that this movie could be made, seemingly without anyone ever questioning the moral understanding it projects.

a good story but always these unnecessary human errors that are shown again and again in such syfy movies ...

Questionable science and liberties with physics hurt realism. The sloppy writing and poor direction round out the low-budget feel. Not a great movie and not so great for fans of space movies either. It has the occasional good acting moments despite very few opportunities to shine, but it is entirely forgettable and mostly unremarkable. The ethical challenge was presented well but executed badly. It quite simply lacks pizzazz.

An absurd, lazy, gutless, stupid, and occasionally picturesque trip to planet Pander.

An eye for scientific accuracy but the final existential threat was cheap in order to create tension. Halfway through they gave up on drama before any real conflicts occurred. There's at least a good 15 minutes they could have milked for a debate about who should survive. Kendrick was so mechanical with other people inside the ship but her best emotional moments occurred outside. Just once I'd like to see Collette happy. Fav scene: amazing reactions from Kendrick when she dropped the tank.

An ending that comes about from a random occurrence is trash. Also the last act is hella slow and was barely tolerable by skipping forward. Not enough tether redundancy either.

Another grim survival tale from Joe Penna and Ryan Morrison. There is something to be said for these “Andromeda Strain” type films, where scientists approach the problems, they are presented with as actual scientists. Collette is a master, this is well known, but Kendrick and Kim do a lot with very little. Finally, it seems that Penna and Morrison have a profound belief in the essential decency of humankind. I couldn’t disagree more, but it’s a nice dream to have once in a while.

They tried, it has an interesting concept. But the science/physics and practicalities of space travel that are just completely unrealistic and I couldn't reconcile. They lost me in the beginning and I never could get over it.

The characterization might be a bit lackluster, and the ending is definitely weak. It's still, however, worth seeing for the main premise and the really solid performances.

Pleasantly surprised, felt that most of the "techy" and "sciency" stuff was believable, apart from maybe the spaceship having a stowaway - or I didn't pay attention on how this was accomplished and unnoticed. Tense situation at the end of the movie, bur maybe with a somewhat cliché space event threatening the crew.

I found it pretty good on the character drama front but all the scientific inaccuracies (like the ship rotating the wrong way to produce the needed centrifugal force) kept on distracting me.

It just doesn't make sense. A lazy story with a wasted cast.

Argh. I actually enjoyed 4/5th of the movie. It was tense and an interesting situation. But towards the ending, characters started acting in the most irrational and incompetent ways, adding to their issues through sheer stupidity. It instantly made me stop caring for them.

I'm bummed to see everyone else's score for this since I thought it was excellent. The characters felt genuine, compelling, and real. Their relationships, dialogue, and reactions felt natural. Their decisions were practical and smart. Their mistakes felt realistic. The bad things that happened felt believable. The set and production were great. I guess I missed whatever it was about this that everyone else disliked. I can't think of any complaints I have about it.

Apparently it’s difficult for people to suspend their disbelief for Sci-Fi Drama/Thrillers. There are a couple of things that happen for the sake of the story, and one moment at the end does feel a bit forced in order to add more conflict. Otherwise, I thought this was a very interesting film, with a good cast, decent characters, and an incredibly tense scene towards the end. The writing could’ve been a bit better, but I was pretty surprised how much I enjoyed this.

Lackluster and dull variation of the three-men-in-a-hot-air-balloon dilemma. Nothing to see here.

"Houston, we have a problem!" "Stop crying like a little girl, Lovell, we will get Mattingly to fix it!". Seriously, is it any wonder this mission ended in disaster when someone was screwed into the panel containing the life support system? When their only solution for elevated CO2 was to grow pond weed? When the outside hatch doesn't have any hinges on it? When they cant tie a cylinder on securely? When they dont wait for the solar storm to abate? When they send the ships doctor out to die?

Great chamber space drama concept and cast is clearly above what the script (a bit too overwritten, perhaps?) has to offer, but I just don't know about its irregular pace and some characterization -- I get this is supposed to be dry and realistic, but it seems to lack a proper punch to really connect with me, specially in the second half. Still, Penna has a good look for spatially limited, inert compositions.

It is difficult to look away yes, but it took me 6 months to realise that I had not commented on this watch and that was because it is on the remembered list. Did not leave too big of a mark in my brain.

Maybe I tend to overrate movies set in space, but I was pleasantly surprised given the mixed to poor reviews. The Good - Entertaining and pretty suspenseful. The Bad - Character Development is bare bones and solely done to help the moral dilemma become more challenging.

Uzayda çaresizlik. Mars görevine giden 3 bilim adamı, kaçak olarak giren 1 mühendisin gelmesiyle olaylar başlar. Mühendisin ölmesi, onlar için hayatta kalması anlamına gelecektir. Filmin, özel efektlerinden çok set tasarımına önem verilmiş. Tek mekanda geçen film, sonlara doğru ritmini düşürüyor. Sona kalan dona kalır mantığı da seyirciyi sinir ediyor. Filmin sonunda, iyi çekilmiş 1 uzay sahnesi var. Biletini kestim senin. Güle güle sevgilim.

Some good ideas (wink to Scott Manley), but too many absurdities. I mean, the algae twist alone is enough to kill the plot. Still, space travel is cool.

The title - which seems to promise thrills and/or danger from an outside force - is a misnomer. This is a talky, engaging drama thanks to the moral quandary at its center, but it still kinda feels like an early draft of something even better.

I forced myself to love this movie, but it just didn't happen. Although there are scenes that I liked, I could not get into the story. There was potential, but that was wasted in an unnecessarily-prolonged drama.
