A great city-symphony, up there with the likes of Berlin Symphony of a Great City, Man with a Movie Camera, and Manhatta. As Zeytin wanders through Istanbul interacting with people and dogs, we're offered her unique perspective on human society from the outside. Her powerlessness often reflects the plight of the stateless such as refugees and the homeless, evoking other powerful documentaries such as Children Underground and Streetwise. It's also about some lovely dogs!

This is a somewhat emotive watch. Its a documentary filmed primarily from the perspective of stray dogs around Turkey, who find themselves in less than appealing, ramshackled type surroundings. There's no narration and little in the way of dialogue - the only real dialogue heard is spoken words by those in the background of the featured scenes. At times there's some instrumental music played, which is quite emotive and does add to the atmosphere. Poignant but almost distressingly direction less.

Stray is an emotional, powerful documentary. Elizabeth Lo's directing is just wonderful.
