60s pop-action meets 70s exploitation in the third of five Stray Cat Rock films. Frustrated in their sexual advances towards members of girl-gang the Alley Cats, the Eagles, led by the vicious Baron, blame mixed-race Japanese (thanks to racism and to the childhood fate of Baron's sister) and try to drive all of the "half-breeds" out of town. This means trouble for the mixed-race Kazuma (new to town and looking for his long-lost sister) -- especially when Alley Cat leader Mako falls for him.

More plot and social themes give this one an advantage over its predecessors. Kaji is slick as always and the atmosphere rocks as well.

Japan's deeply ingrained racism is a problem, and this movie tries to address that problem, but as you might expect from a cheap exploitation flick, it does so in the most obnoxious way possible, to the point where the race issue is exploited in service of a completely incoherent and self-serious plot. REMINDER: Your movie is called STRAY CAT ROCK: SEX HUNTER.

Meiko Kaji is the leader of an all girl gang, and they're trying to protect her half Japanese boyfriend from some racist gangsters or something. Frankly, I had a hard time keeping track of the story as the pacing seems all over the place. There's plenty of action, sleaze and groovy tunes, but not enough of Kaji's iconic presence for my liking.

More or less all over the place and a bit grim compared to the previous films but brings some welcome bite to the series with its all out race/sex war. Meiko this time gets to sing, act and kick ass and holds the film together, also the main bad guy is successfully hateful. Some nice stylistic trickery but feels a bit weary at times.

This was by far the best film I've seen in the otherwise mediocre series. Meiko Kaji is in full hard ass mode which is a nice change from the previous films. As with most Pinky Violence films this film's plot is loose and rambling.

Still more sluggish than this kind of movie should be, but slightly better and more watchable than the previous entries in this disappointing series. Cause of the underlying theme of racism being explored, a more coherent plot and Meiko kicking ass with some Molotov coctails.

The third and (by far) best entry in the Stray Cat Rock series. Nikkatsu's 'Imitation of Life'. Delinquent girls (led by Meiko Kaji) get caught up in a race war between impotent gangsters and a group of 'half breeds'. Energetic and colourful. Meiko Kaji gives another iconic performance, decked out in a giant hat and cane, the scene where she breaks up a 'rape party' with a carton of molotov cocktails is fantastic!

Hasebe is back at the helm, and the film stands it’s own against the original. It's groovy, but not quite as wild as the 1st. The story goes back to youth gangs, but it’s less coherent and some plot points are a bit baffling. It doesn't really matter as the characters were interesting anyway. Meiko Kaji really steps up as the star here and her role is like a test round for Sasori. Another series regular Tatsuya Fuji is also in good form and their characters have an interesting relationship.
