Boat cop don't play by the rules. Robert Pastorelli spits a lot when he talks. Sarah Jessica Parker's face does indeed look like a foot.

I've had a ham sandwich before just because I wanted to eat mayonnaise. If Bruce Willis doesn't pass for mayonnaise in your sad existence, than consider Tom Atkins playing Dennis Farina's brother. Now you have to see it.

Dive hard? Die wet? None of these work and neither does Willis as a river cop. Or any movie about river cops for that matter. The only good thing about this is sam the sham & the pharaohs. "Tom Hardy"?

i hate SJ Parker, but the movie was about as good as the 90ies lonewolf-ex-police revenge movies get, i can only think of two persons to play hardy to make this a good movie (not some b-movie seagal or sizemore crap), willis and eastwood, and in the end willis did a great job

Show me a movie with Sarah Jessica Parker as the proposed romantic interest of anyone and I will show you a bucket primed for my vomit. That said, this film is just Hollywood trying to cash in Bruce Willis as the loose cannon cop yet again.

Classic Bruce Willis. All alone against all odds he get justice and the girl. Good job, Bruce!

Tagline: They shouldn't have put him in the water, if they didn't want him to make waves! I wish my job was coming up with movie taglines. Also, wtf @ Sarah Jessica Parker, she actually looks bangable for once in her shitty career.

Bruce is Bruce but SJP is as hideous as ever.

Falls victim to a lot of the conventions of a 90's movie with Willis, which does it no favors. Everyone's an asshole and the plot is predictably convoluted.

Very generic movie gets very generic score.

If anyone ever argued that the 90's was the worst decade in recorded time, they might offer Striking Distance as evidence. If anyone ever argued that the 90's was the coolest decade in recorded time, they might do the same and both of them would be right.

Things go downhill quickly after the opening car chase.

Sarah Jessica Parker...so annoying.

I saw the first 40 minutes. That was enough. It's boring and drastically one-dimensional. Avoid like the plague.

I remember seeing this on HBO 25 years ago and still thought it was terrible although I had no idea what a good movie was (that started with MIB in 1997).

Better than Hudson Hawk, but not as good as Last Boyscout.

I enjoyed my time with Striking Distance up until the last act where I started eyeing my phone out of the corner of my eye more than I paid attention to the movie.

It gets more points than it deserves thanks to Bruce Willis. There are moments where they should have known better even in 93 and its so cliche you think its a parody.

A commonly overlooked movie wherein Bruce Willis does Bruce Willis stuff. On a river.

Another police detective film where the woman killer is a detective on the police force. There's normal cop tension, a predictable twist, just nothing to make the film truly worthwhile.

Hat genau die Schlüsselreize, auf die ich anspringe. Da stört mich die übertriebene Stumpfheit gar nicht. Hätte den bestimmt richtig geil gefunden, wenn ich den mit 10 oder so nachts heimlich im Fernsehen geguckt hätte. Fand Dennis Farina noch nie so gut. Die harten Storywechsel waren schon fast ein bisschen zu viel. Jedenfalls für einen Film dieser Länge. Hätte besser zu einer Miniserie gepasst. 5x 1 Stunde oder sowas.

dumb film with solid acting

I guess I thought that Tom Sizemore and Robert Pastorelli couldn't appear in the same film or the world would implode. Guess not. Striking Distance soars on its supporting cast and one good car chase and one good boat chase. The rest is fine to bad. The chemistry between Willis and Parker is non-existent and I feel bad for the later because her role is horribly written.
