Sultan

A kernel of a good underdog story dragged long past the point of interest or relevance by the conventions of Bollywood cinema (over-extended melodrama, expansive dance sequences, overly emotive performances) – we don’t need a detour into an extended courtship/romance distracting from the main story thrust involving wrestling. There is some genuinely nice and interesting material here – the performances can’t be faulted, and (while sometimes interminable), the musical numbers are well staged.

Not realistic but heart-warmingly epic and passionate. Not a great cinematography or the best fight choreographies but still an effective fight/romance movie.
