Summer Storm

This is a fairly sweet and obviously well-meaning film about a teenage boy coming out. The huge stumbling block for me is that it isn't set in anything I can recognize as reality, and I'm not sure how much of that gap is cultural. If I watch a teen sex comedy like say "Meatballs" (I pick that because of the summer camp location), I know that that's not reality either, but I understand how to adjust my expectations. This I was just totally flummoxed by.
